Gulliver's Travels

Poor quality on a big size.....Gulliver's Travels

When I think of how a modern remake of Jonathan Swift's novel, I would think of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. A sharp twist of someone appearing in a magical land. We meet Jack Black playing Jack Black, a geeky nobody living in a New York mail room. He hides a secret crush on Darcy, played by Amanda Peet. He bluffs his way to a travel assignment in the critcally unsafe Bermuda Triangle. Black gets shipwrecked up a inward water tornado. This film has the worst cast I have ever seen. Many Channel 4 comedy viewers would recognise Roy from The IT Crowd as the villian. Loud-mouthed Catherine Tate and comedian Billy Conolly play the King and Queen of Lilliput. Gavin and Stacey's James Cordon, plays the Prince and Emily Blunt is the Princess. The actors are either British or putting on a British accent (Jason Segel). This film is either a damp squib on Jack Black's career or a wet blanket over the traditional story.

2/5
